5. ABOUT / 6. CONTACT
I
grew up near Southend in Essex and have lived in Edinburgh, London,
Bath, Peterborough and am now settled in the market town of Devizes,
Wiltshire. I made my career as a map illustrator and have been drawn back to my original study of painting and drawing in recent years.
I’m interested in the juxtaposition of man-made and nature, and of feeling my way through the lines of road markings, bright orange barriers, telegraph poles and pylons within the huge space that comes from hills, water and sky.
I use a mixture of drawing and painting, using the mark-making that comes from using pencil, charcoal and crayon coupled with the colour and flow of ink, paint and rubbing back to bare surface.
